Our knowledge of real estate and interior design in Toulouse area
Toulouse's real estate stock is essentially made up of old buildings, half of which date from the mid-20th century. In the heart of the historic city (of which the Place du Capitole marks the center), residential housing is even older and often requires renovation work to be adapted to contemporary lifestyles.
Moving away from the center, there are apartments from the 60s and 70s which can be renovated to bring them up to date. On the outskirts, there are many pavilions built during the second half of the 20th century which can be subject to interior or exterior renovation.
Typical of the Garonne basin, typical Toulouse houses are also called a “market garden house” (maison maraîchère) because these are buildings primarily intended for market gardeners in the suburbs. These one-story houses are particularly sought after for their old charm even if renovation work is often necessary: improvement of circulation organized around a central corridor, or even elevation to increase the living space.
